SSH Telnet
Discover more about the Telnet protocol and its use.
Secure Shell, also known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol employed to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange information between a hosting server and a client. Since the data exchanged by the two sides is encoded, a third party simply cannot intercept it, which makes SSH a preferred means of managing a website hosting account. The commands which may be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared hosting server, in particular, the possibilities are limited because you simply won't have root access to the server, so you can just create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, export and import databases, etcetera. These are all actions which are executed within the shared hosting account and don't require a higher level of access. Through a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the ability to set up server-side software or to restart the hosting server or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, but if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are tons of apps for other OSs, you can employ to connect to the remote server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Website Hosting
If you have a
cloud website hosting account with us and you would like to deal with your content remotely through SSH, you may get SSH access to the account using your Hepsia Control Panel. If your plan does not come with this feature by default, you can easily add it with a couple of mouse clicks through the Upgrades menu. In the SSH section of the Control Panel, you will see the host, the port number and the username which you should use when you connect to the account. You can also select what password you would like to use, as it does not need to be the same as the one for the account. We have prepared several Help articles where you can easily find each of the commands that you will be able to use with a shared hosting plan, as well as examples of how they are used. Moreover, if SSH access is enabled for your account, you'll be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection via a standard client such as FileZilla, for example.

The latter may be updated anytime, if needed. These login credentials are also required if you want to upload files using a secure connection and you would like to use SFTP, which is also part of the SSH access service that we offer. A complete list of the commands you can carry out shall give you a better idea of what tasks you could perform inside your account and each is accompanied by a number of examples of the syntax.

SSH Telnet in VPS
The
virtual private server solutions we offer include SSH access by default, not as an optional upgrade or a feature which you should activate. As soon as your new server is prepared, you will be able to connect and start working on your content using the login details which you have entered through the order process. A copy of the SSH credentials will be sent to you via e mail too. Because your VPS will be isolated from the others on the physical hosting server, there aren't any limitations in regards to what you can or cannot do via SSH. You could download, install and manage any piece of software that'll run on a Linux machine, reboot the entire server or just a specific software component, and work with files, folders and databases without restrictions. All you'll require for this is a console or an SSH client on your end.
